THE REVIEW by Robin Moroney for Gamers Today

Bust a Groove 2 now has to compete with the many dancing games that the original Bust a Groove made possible. Critics' reaction to the founder's return, sadly, has been harsh. "Such a plain rehash - a solid game in itself but a lacking sequel," said Gamespot. To win the game's dance competitions you must complete "a series of button presses before you finish the string on the fourth musical beat" as your characters dance against crazy backgrounds in which "huge Japanese dragons fly about, giant smiling monkeys pop out of walls, volcanoes erupt, and bank vaults burst open with loot while you're dancing," according to IGN. But Daily Radar felt "the gameplay has been simplified so much that it fast becomes mindless and quite repetitive." IGN delivered the killer blow: "next January, you'll be able to play Dance Dance Revolution, which is the party game to stomp all over every other party game ever created, demolish half of New York, climb up the Empire State Building, and get shot at by bi-planes."
