THE REVIEW by Robin Moroney for Gamers Today

I don't know if IGN invented the word "confiscated" as in, Blade is "an ugly, late-as-hell game with a lousy frame rate and confiscated control." Blade, the comic and movie, has come to PlayStation to relay the story of a human who has vampire powers but who lacks the vampire's thirst for human blood. Blade augments his powers with "a samurai sword, a handgun, a shotgun, a grenade launcher, and a machine gun" (not including Blade's useful fists). The number of weapons suggests the main focus of the game: killing.

Daily Radar considers the killing strategic: "a methodical combat game where tactics and weapon choice make all the difference." But if you're either Gamespot or IGN then Blade is too little, too late. Gamespot found the camera and graphics made Blade impossible to direct. IGN found the long-distance shooting to be efficient but dull and found the crepuscular graphics ugly and unhelpful. "Whys and wherefores shouldn't be my department," said IGN. "Just don't buy this."
