THE REVIEW by Robin Moroney for Gamers Today

I am now a man because I know what I mean when I say "Aqua Aqua is the true sequel to Wetrix." If you don't know what that means, don't worry. Wetrix surprised N64 critics with its sophisticated game play roughly a year ago, but didn't really take off. Like Wetrix, Aqua Aqua combines Tetris with water. You arrange falling cubes in a way that they will form spaces to collect rain. Create too much land, and an earthquake occurs. If you don't collect the water efficiently, it spills over the side and if too much spills, you die. ("The story takes place six and a half days after the dawn of time; then there's some nonsense about a dry planet and the four evil monsters," said Daily Radar).

Bombs, fireballs and earthquakes further complicate matters, as do four level bosses. IGN found the game "very difficult to master," and Daily said it was "not an easy puzzler." But, with mastery of the game comes addiction and fun, particularly because of the frantic two-player option. "The Story Mode adds a lot to the single player experience that wasn't evident in Wetrix," said IGN. "You'll probably dig it," promised Daily Radar.
