THE REVIEW by Robin Moroney for Gamers Today
Alien Resurrection provided critics with hours of expectant excitement
interrupted by bursts of confusion and frustration. Gamespot liked how "lights
flicker, steam blasts from wall vents, and scripted events such as an alien
bursting through a doorway play out in cinematic fashion all around you." But
"when the tension breaks, your vital weaponry conk out and leave you unarmed and
defenseless." And worse than that: "the animated aliens rendered on a
PlayStation fail to chill us as much as a rubber-suited actor from a film that's
nearly a quarter century old," said Daily Radar.
The inability to shoot straight, even with a key board or with careful use of
the digital control, leaves the player helpless at the most crucial moments.
"Even when shooting sitting ducks, aiming is still frustrating," said IGN,
although it's hard to imagine what ducks would hang out for a nice sit on a
spaceship.
