THE REVIEW by Robin Moroney for Gamers Today

It says a lot for today's technology that game designers can make Pac-Man move through three dimensions and time, from the Wild West to Ancient Egypt. He can "now swim, jump, mine-cart ride, kayak, ride a pig" according to Daily Radar, which found that Pac-Man spends most of his time still "doing what he does best-eating pellets."

The 3-D environments have the necessary graphical richness. Daily Radar liked the hat-wearing ghosts in the Wild West. For Gamespot, it was the Egyptian Pac-Man-style "hieroglyphs that seem to have deteriorated over time or are covered in sand" and which are still "clearly noticeable."

Neither Daily Radar nor Gamespot worried that Pac-Man can jump. Basically, it's so difficult to do (Daily Radar would jump over one ghost, only to land on another) that the maze walls remain the defining feature of the game. "It didn't have to deliver much," noted Daily Radar, but it "delivers on its promise."
