THE REVIEW by Robin Moroney for Gamers Today

Freedom manages to capture the desolation and frustration of a Samuel Beckett play, which is not really a good thing. Players spend their days "running through a bland, lifeless world looking for a key" and "when a player is killed, there are no death screams nor sounds of bodies hitting the floor; things just sort of go silent," according to Daily Radar. The game derives from the successful Freedom series of books, which involve alien overlords and human resistance. Sadly none of the alleged excitement of the books was found in the game. The emphasis on dialogue slows the pace, according to Daily Radar, who estimated the number of lines spoken in the game at "somewhere between a gagillion and umpteen." And worse, the fighting is so heavily automated that fighting "just gets kind of boring" with "one button pressed over and over again." Resist this game.
