THE REVIEW by Robin Moroney for Gamers Today The symbols are in Japanese, but don't worry. IGN figured out how to play the game after a brief period of trial of error and, although the menus are indecipherable, the characters in this insanely well-received shooter all speak English. IGN called Sin and Punishment "a valuable treasure that may go widely overlooked in America if Nintendo doesn't do something about it." The game is brief, which disappointed both Gamespot and IGN, but the time spent with the game is intense. "You will fight atop elevators, take to the sky and defy gravity, bear the desert heat, side-scroll, clash swords with the enemy, and even fight the earth itself," explained IGN. According to IGN all this shooting and fighting stems from an absorbing "tale that deals with political corruption, genetic mutations, with some fantastical surprises thrown in." The game can depict some fairly amazing things. "At one point, hundreds of small flying enemies start streaking from left to right across the screen," said Gamespot. The game, like life, is brief and, unlike life, easy. "If you can remember to double-jump over incoming shots and tap the Z button every time someone gets close enough to feel your sword, you can walk through Sin and Punishment in about two hours," said Gamespot. The game has "rocketed to the top of our "must-have" list," said IGN. *For a complete explanation of ESRB ratings, check out the official ESRB Web site. |
