THE REVIEW by Robin Moroney for Gamers Today Under 12 years old? You love Hey You, Pickachu! Yes, you do! Wake up, Pikachu! Exclaim "Wake Up!" into your new Nintendo 64 microphone and watch Pikachu jump up and then Pikachu "gambols.. and prances... both, again, in a manner that defines cute and amusing." Then you tell Pikachu to make a stew and guide him through Discovery Days, Play Days, and Daring Days. "When you're baby-sitting Caterpie, you'll gather rosebuds from the tops of trees," and talk your way through 20 other mini-games.
If you're over 12 years old, you might learn to appreciate Hey You, Pikachu. But you will probably never love it. Gamespot suspects that "both children and adults can enjoy" the game, although IGN finds it "extremely boring." For $80, gamers should probably convince a relative with a small child to buy the game and then, push the child away from the microphone to see whether this "brilliant lollipop" is worth the price. *For a complete explanation of ESRB ratings, check out the official ESRB Web site. |
